How to Choose a Good Wedding Photographer.

I got an amazing phone call today. It was from a potential bride. She didn’t know anything about wedding photography. Can you believe that? It only dawned on me as obvious just now. I told her that people don’t often hire a wedding photographer and not to worry. Even as a photographer, I still know what that feels like. Since I’ve began this career, I’ve learned a lot about this business - so I wanted to give her the most honest information I could.

Big Apple Wedding

My wife and I did a wedding this past weekend in NYC. Man it was hot. I never expected it to be so humid. And I live in South Florida!

We met with the couple the day before the wedding after hoofing it around the city to scope out the church (amazing!) and the reception location (Tavern on the Green in Central Park). We took some pre-wedding pictures on the balcony/garden of the hotel and talked about the plans for the big day.

I 8> the 17-55.

I took some pictures today that I thought were going to be toast. It was an outside stage, half-lit by nasty hot, mid-morning summer sun.

The limited area around the stage was crowded, so I went looking for higher ground. Found a spot on the side and started with my usual 70-200. After freaking out because my lenses had fogged up (from car/ac to outside/heat in being transported in backpack, acting like a cooler), some parents spotted me and made me a space in the front.. So I switched to the 17-55. Yay! That put the back-lit stage right in front of me. So I tried my best.
