Now *this* is a website!

I once telneted to cdnow.

If that means anything to you, then you know I’ve been around the Internet for a while. I’ve done my share of web design and creative directing. Rarely do I see a site that leaps over everything else I see in my daily web life.

I’m a bit old-school in my web design preferences. I enjoy the art of a finely spun html page over a flashy interface. But there’s no reason a site shouldn’t be able to pull out all the stops. Websites for musical artists have this freedom. And when someone with the right style and skill pulls out all the stops?

This site loaded really fast. And the interface is beautiful.

Wet Esession

Filed under: Esession, Photography, Weddings — tony @ 1:10 am

“E-session” is short for Engagement Session, which is really just an excuse for a pre-marital portrait session. I’ve read that they grew from the custom of having pictures taken for publication in the newspaper engagement announcements. Makes sense. I like them because we get to know the couple in a neutral setting to have some fun. We can get to know each other and I can size up how I have to shoot them.

Amber and Dan have their wedding approaching soon and we did a session with them at the beach. We end up at the beach a lot, and as much as I dislike same-ness, the beach is a Florida wedding staple.
To keep it interesting, we agreed that they would get very wet. It was a little colder out ther than I would have liked, but the water actually helped, being surprisingly warm.

They both did great and I think we got some really nice shots. I wanted to get closer for some shots, but I had to keep raising the camera out of the destructive path of oncoming waves. I shot with the 35/1.4 and 70-200/2.8 only. On a second camera, my wife had a new 70-200/4IS. That is a sweet little lens - and I do mean little, relative to the 70-200/2.8. The skies were overcast, so had nice even light, but little warmth. Some shots have fill-flash - I’m using that a bit more than usual currently.
