MySpace, Cultural Barometer

Filed under: Photography — tony @ 12:17 am

Admittedly, I don’t check my MySpace profile very often anymore, if I ever did. Ironically enough, however, I met my favorite photographer buddy there. Lately, I just use it to keep tabs on my dance photography. I watch the profiles of the dancers in my friends list and see how many times one of my pictures gets used as profile picture. Just getting in someone’s gallery is good, but when your shot is their profile pictures, that’s like major points right there.

So I was checking MySpace this evening and one of my recent brides is in my friends list. I noticed that her profile picture was one of my photos. I see that I must have done a really good job because I made a few other profile pictures: her husband, two of his groomsman, two of her bridesmaids and another friend. Sweet.
Even better are some of the messages on her profile. To wit:

“Holy F*CK. Best wedding photos I’ve EVER SEEN!!!!!!!!!!! You looked F*CKING GORGEOUS. CONGRATULATIONS, MRS. JOHNSON!!!!!!”

“Your wedding pictures are AMAZING!! You looked like a MODEL!!!!!! Ryan is such a lucky man…. ”

“Your pictures are some of the best I have ever seen…. You look absolutely stunning, perfectly gorgeous, and radiantly beautiful in everyone!!!!”

So, if you all don’t mind, I’m going to chalk this one up as a success and get back to work.
